White Oak
PANGE：Oregon white oak －British Columbia, Oregon and central California. White oak －southern Ontario, southern Quebec and the eastern half of USA. Swamp white oak －southern most States of Canada, from southern Maine through the central States to the great plains. Overcup oak －Atlantic coastal, States, westward to Texas through southern Illinois and Indiana. White oak (Q.alba) is the most important.
PROPRETIES：Annual rings very clear except slow growth trees.
Bark：Grey and plane sometimes with narrow fissures (Q.alba).

Wood：Sapwood white or light brown, and thin or thick. Heartwood clear pale brown or dark brown.
Weight：Heavy or very heavy (A.D.0.75) and hard or very hard.
Grain：Generally straight.
Texture：Coarse.
USES：Railway sleepers (for its hardness, flexibility and durability), kegs especially for liquor (for its impermeability, hardness and durability). Poles, posts, furniture, sliced veneer, interior panels, flooring, railway coaches, cabinets ,ships ,agricultural instruments, handles, coffins and sewing machine tables.
